This is a rare opportunity to join Hawaii’s #1 Station KHON2 in a high-profile critical role. The ideal candidate must have strong public speaking skills, knowledge of Hawaii traffic patterns and local street names, and experience working on-camera. Must be fully engaged and tech savvy to analyze traffic data and share important information with drivers on all platforms. Exceptional social media skills required. Knowledge of W.S.I. traffic systems a plus. Shooting and editing skills also a plus. Bachelor’s degree or related experience required.

The MORNING TRAFFIC REPORTER collects, analyzes and presents traffic information and shares other newsworthy events on all platforms:

Dedicated Traffic Reporter and Morning Host
Utilizes traffic system to analyze data and present information to viewers in clear concise manner
Provides additional resources for Viewers to get traffic information utilizing social media and station website
As needed, additional News Reports for broadcast, describing the background and details of events
Ensures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Writes stories for the web and other eMedia platforms
Interacts with viewers/users on social media sites
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Superior on-air presence
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
Flexibility to work any shift

Compensation: $21+/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
