This is a non-traditional internship focused around providing flexibility for students to maintain progress in their coursework while also gaining industry experience and assisting the company to improve safety, environmental compliance, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. Applicants can start their internship at any point during the year and typically choose to work around their class schedule, continuing through multiple semesters in most cases.

 This is a hands-on position that requires applicants to work directly with operations personnel and equipment.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Assist transportation manager in dispatching freight to ensure customers are receiving their product in a timely fashion

Assist Senior Engineers with daily tasks and projects

Provide technical assistance to operations personnel

Assist in performing quality assessments and determining needs for improvement

Perform safety assessments and audit procedures

Foster continuous improvement through data driven process improvement decisions

Provide statistical analysis of process conditions and their impact on profitability, quality, and runnability
